Laser Fleet Update- Crab Claw Sept. 20-21

 

Hello Laser Sailors,

 

Last Sunday the forecast was a little bleak, but 23 Laser sailors (22 full rigs, 1 radial) competed in the first day of the SSA Laser summer series.  A nice southerly filled in and we had 4 great races.  Eric Reinke had a great performance winning 2 out of 4 races, but was scored OCS in one race opening up the door.  Bob Tan won the day followed by RK Creighton in second and Oscar Cingolani in third.  The second day of the series is Saturday Sept. 13

The 2008 Laser Crab Claw Regatta will be held at Severn Sailing Association Sept. 20-21.  Two days of Laser sailing as well as dinner, crab feast and beverages Saturday night included in the registration fee.  D.J. NOTICE OF RACE - 2008 Laser Crab Claw Regatta
September 20-21, 2008

1 RULES:
1.1  The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the International Laser Class Association (ILCA) rules.
1.2  The regatta is designated Category C in accordance with RRS Appendix 1, ISAF Regulation 20.
1.3 The Organizing Authority is Severn Sailing Association in conjunction
with Laser Fleet 10.

2 RISK
2.1 Disclaimer of Liability

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk.  See rule 4, Decision to Race.  Severn Sailing Association and Laser fleet 10 will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.

3 FLEET ELIGIBILITY
3.1 Both full rigs and radial rig Lasers may race in this event.  If six or more radials register, there will be a separate radial start.

4 FEES
4.1  Required Fees
Checks should be made payable to “LASER FLEET 10”.  The entry fee is $55 USD.  FOR ENTRIES RECEIVED BY MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, THE ENTRY FEE IS REDUCED TO $40 USD. 
4.2 Online registration is available at www.sailregattas.com .
4.3 All payments must be in US dollars.
4.4 All early registrations must be received by Monday, September 15th.  Competitors may register early online at www.sailregattas.com or by completing the standard registration form and sending it with the appropriate fees to:

6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1    The sailing instructions will be available during on-site registration.

7  SCORING
7.1  The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A2, will be used except as modified below.
7.2 There will be one discard when five or more races are completed.

8 AWARDS
Prizes will be awarded to:
Laser fleet: First through third place, first master and first woman. 
Radial fleet: First through second place

District Championship this weekend!

 

Hello Laser Sailors,

 

The District 11 Championship was held last Saturday and Sunday at Deep Creek Yacht Club.  It was a beautiful weekend of lake sailing.  There were 40 boats in the Laser fleet and 8 boats in the radial fleet.  We had 4 races on Saturday and one on Sunday.  Dinner was great and who can complain about free beer:)  Ted Morgan of SSA was this years champion with bullets in 3 out of 5 races.  Second Place was Erich Hesse (PRSA) and third place was Eric Reinke (SSA).  Danielle Prior won the radial fleet.  Full results and regatta report available at http://www.laserdistrict11.org/events/r287

Please register online as soon as possible. Traditionally, this is a great event with upwards of 70 boats. In addition to our fine One Design Fleets, we generally have many perennial visitors sailing Lasers, Front Runners, Flying Scots, Hamptons, Albacores, 420s and Mobjacks. Depending on conflicting Junior events elsewhere, we usually have a Junior turnout in Optis, Laser Radials and 420s. There will be a separate Green Fleet for Optis.
