Laser Fleet Update - upcoming events

 

Hello Laser Sailors,

 

The SSA summer series concluded last Saturday.  Fifteen boats competed two races with a rather frustrating, shifty light breeze.  Aaron Freeman placed first overall, followed by John Gebhardt in second and Jerry Smith in third.  Congratulations!

 

This weekend:

 

69th Annual Regatta - Fishing Bay YC, Deltaville, VA 

 

On Saturday and Sunday, August 9-10, 2008, FBYC will hold its 69th Annual One Design Regatta. Please register online as soon as possible. Traditionally, this is a great event with upwards of 70 boats. In addition to our fine One Design Fleets, we generally have many perennial visitors sailing Lasers, Front Runners, Flying Scots, Hamptons, Albacores, 420s and Mobjacks. Depending on conflicting Junior events elsewhere, we usually have a Junior turnout in Optis, Laser Radials and 420s. There will be a separate Green Fleet for Optis.

Annual Oxford Regatta 

 

Tred Avon YC, Oxford, MD  Aug 9-10

 

Another great event held on the Tred Avon River in Historic Oxford, MD.  Great party on Saturday evening with 2 bands.  Cash dinner and bar after racing.   Many one design fleets, log canoes and big boat racing as well.  Hope to see you there!

Donate Your Old Laser Parts! The Deep Creek Sailing School is in desperate need of Laser parts (in any condition) for their junior program. Radial and 4.7 sails, any mast sections (they'll cut down the lower sections), dagger boards, rudders, old running rigging. Hiking straps. You name it. They need it. They are a nonprofit 501c3. Send it with competitors traveling to the Laser District 11 Championship regatta at Deep Creek Lake Aug. 16-17, or contact Jill Bennett in Annapolis, Maryland jsbennett@aacc.edu or 410-349-4979.
